Technology Web-cast Site Development |
The
Task
|
Build an interactive
web site for students and teachers to play a game show contest and win technology
prizes for their K-12 schools. This event was simulcasted over satellite
and cable TV into classrooms around the country and people played the submitted
their answers over the web site. This site was expecting 200,000 participants.

Client

America's
Kids Connect is a non-profit organization dedicated to getting new technology
into classrooms around America. Sponsors donated the technology prizes and
receive promotional benefit during the event.

Situation
|
An hour long
games show was produced and aired over cable TV, satellite, and the web
site simultaneously. Sponsors needed to have their messages on the web site.
Participants were required to register in advance for this event. The game
show event was repeated for 36 hours so that schools in all North American
time zones would have a chance to participate.

The
Action
|
The site was
developed to meet all requirements and the registration database was built
to handle the expected load. The forms database handled and scored each
contestant's response and tabulated responses and the award winning schools
were notified of their prizes.

Results
|
| Response to
the event created over 700,000 registrants competing for over $3.5 million
in prizes. The event was conducted as planned and had an overwhelming participation
response. It was a success in all aspects. |
